I suspect you have all heard of the Milky Way candy bar.....BUT - do you know how it became so famous and who was the maker of such a popular candy?
Come with us on this one day trip to Southern Middle TN to learn about the history of the Mar-O-Bar Candy Company founded by Frank C. Mars. In 1930, he purchased 2,800 acres of land in Pulaski, TN and developed a working farm with over 30 barns and facilities for breeding thoroughbred horses and Hereford cattle.
This property is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The MANOR HOUSE is a 25,000-square-foot Tudor Revival with 35 rooms, including 21 bedrooms, and 12 original bathrooms. The house was designed for entertaining, and many of the individual rooms are unusually large. The living room features exposed beams and a 40-foot (12 m) ceiling. The Mars' dining room table is reputed to have been the largest private dining table in Tennessee.
We will tour of this grand old house and enjoy a plated lunch while sitting along the renowned dining table. Before we leave, we will take a hayride around the farm.
