TULIP TIME in HOLLAND, MICHIGAN with MACKINAC ISLAND

Day 1:  Depart @6:30 AM - stopping in Bowling Green, KY to tour the National Corvette Museum. Buffet lunch at Ryan’s, Green, Ky (on your own) Overnight:  Indianapolis, IN.

Day 2:  We journey through the beautiful Amish area of Indiana, spending the early part of this day in Shipshewana where you can shop and enjoy lunch on your own at the Blue Gate Rest.  After lunch it’s on to Holland, MI to check into our hotel,. Later that evening we will enjoy a Dutch style dinner in Holland.(included). Overnight: Grand Rapids, MI. (2 nights @ same hotel)

Day 3:  Today we spend most of the day at the famous Holland Tulip Festival with step-on-guided tour of Holland and its beautiful tulips. We will visit Veldeer Tulip Gardens known for acres of tulips and the De Klomp Wooden Shoe and Delft Factories; as well as Windmill Island featuring a 249 year old working Dutch windmill "De Zwaan" (graceful bird). A Dutch style lunch (on your own) awaits us at Dutch Marktplaats where U will see Dutch dancers & crafters.













Day 4: This morning it’s on to Frankenmuth, MI to Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland where you can shop or just admire the amazing displays. Lunch (on your own) at Zehnder’s Cafe or Bavarian Inn both known for their famous fried chicken. Dinner in Mackinaw City (included). (2 nights @ same hotel)

Day 5:  This morning we will take a 20 minute ferry ride across one of the Great Lakes to Mackinac Island. There are NO automobiles allowed on the island and transportation is via horse and carriage or bicycle. You will have free time for exploring and shopping. We will take a “horse & carriage tour” of the island on our way to the hotel. At THE GRAND HOTEL we will enjoy their legendary buffet lunch. (included) THE GRAND HOTEL opened on July 10, 1887. This gracious hotel, invites you to the grandeur of the life-style within. This evening we return to a wine and cheese social at our hotel.

Day 6:  We travel across the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan and into Wisconsin. We will stop at a “cheese” shop or two to be sure you can buy some of that famous Wisconsin cheese.  Overnight near Madison, WI.






Day 7:  This morning we will pay a visit to the “unbelievable” HOUSE ON THE ROCK, a complex of architecturally unique rooms, streets, gardens and shops designed by Alex Jordan, Jr.  A must see: The Infinity Room which juts out 218 feet from the House on the Rock, without supports underneath. Afternoon it’s onto Springfield, IL to spend the night.

Day 8:  This morning we tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum, an extraordinary exhibit with multiple videos of the life and times of this President and others who lived during the same period.  Afternoon lunch at Cozy Dog Restaurant (on your own) before a visit to the St. Louis Arch, “Gateway to the West.” Travel 630 feet in the air, up to the top of the Gateway Arch, “if you wish” to see awesome views of St. Louis. Overnight in Mt. Vernon, IL






Day 9:  We’re homeward bound...but not first before stopping at Patty’s 1880‘s Settlement in Grand Rivers, KY for lunch (included) and time for a little browsing or shopping.
